Twitter Tips For the Experienced
Volume II – The need for Teh Funny

If you tweet, you know that often, the opportunity to be funny and creative pops up in the form of a hashtag for something fun-inspiring making the ‘Trending Topics’ list.
If you don’t tweet, go sign up, then look in the right sidebar of your profile page under ‘Trending Topics’. A hashtag is simply using the # symbol in front of any word to turn it into a tag. It will turn that tag into a link, and everyone else can click on it and be taken to a list of everyone else who’s used that tag for their tweet.
Trending topics are when everyone uses a certain tag in their tweet and twitter can track how often something is being talked about.
Today, the top trending topic for awhile, was #oneletteroffmovies, resulting in tons of hilarious tweets. The idea was to take the title of a movie and replace part of the title with another word that would turn the title into something funny. At best, you accomplish this by changing only one letter.
Some might find it annoying to have their stream of multi-level marketing, shameless self-promotion and get rich quick tweets to be broken up by a bit of utter nonsense, but I welcome those silly intrusions into my stream of followers’ tweets. While I too, post some shameless self-promotion, I honestly try to break up my tweets with a balance of quips, jokes, retweets of others’ great tweets and links to good info at other sites online. That’s what good tweeting is all about. Balance. No man can live by social media gurus alone, and since I am after all, manly fracas… I need teh funny too.
Here are a list of my favorites (so far) from the gig:
- chic1967: Porn on the 4th of July #oneletteroffmovies
- anmlbr8tion: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Hind #oneletteroffmovies
- ElectricStudio: Lush Hour #oneletteroffmovies

So go sign up, (and add @therealfracas to your following list) to either take part, or just enjoy a chuckle or two.
Disclaimer: Parts of this post have been posted at Just Fracas. Since that’s also my site, that makes me a pain in everyone’s arse, not a blog scraper. Don’t be confused. Though blog scrapers are a pain in the arse, and fracas can also be a pain in the arse… that still doesn’t make me a blog scraper. I’m sure you feel better, now that I’ve cleared that up. I am however, still a pain in the arse… but I’m your pain in the arse, so it’s all good. Hmmm. Why not buy me a coffee and shut me up? Yes, actually… I do need more coffee. Make sure it’s one of those really big ones that last a long time, k?

I don’t understand Twitter, but I use it. Those hastags get me in trouble sometimes. I almost lost a manbreast from bad information. You should be careful what you read online.
Comment by JohnC October 24, 2009 @ 7:29 PMI know. The internet is dangerous… so people shouldn’t believe anything they read, unless they read it at a fracas blog. I don’t lie… it’s all safe and sunshine here…
Comment by fracas October 24, 2009 @ 7:48 PMMy manbreasts thank you. Uh, it’s night though, even in your time zone. I still feel safe though. Just sayin’. :)

Comment by Mark Steel October 26, 2009 @ 9:26 AMI saw a tweet from someone telling others participating in the tag to ‘keep it clean’ and I wondered why he bothered… and who died to make him twitter’s overlord. I guess some folks don’t understand that if you don’t like someone’s tweets, you just unfollow them and it’s all good.
So… didja get unfollowed for your fun?
