Shiver me timbers!

The folks at Fuelmyblog have a Friday Five feature and because September 19, 2008 (today you landlubber) is Talk Like a Pirate Day, 2008… I’m answering it in Pirate.  Here are the questions:

1.  If it was not fattening or bad for you, what would you eat all the time?

Arrr, chocolate. Is thar verily anythin’ else t’ choose? Gar, Where can I find a bottle o’rum?

(Actually the non-pirate fracas would say that too, minus the ‘gar’ and the ‘arrr’ but probably keeping the rum. I like rum. Rum and chocolate is even better.)

2.  Wine or beer?

Arrr, wine. Beer be stinky pee water. Why would anyone be wantin’ t’ be drinkin’ stinky pee water? Aye, me parrot concurs.

(Amazing! The non-pirate fracas would say that too. Only I don’t have a parrot. But if I did, it would concur.)

3.  What is your favourite restaurant?

Aye, restaurants be for landlubbers. Har is what a real Pirate would be eatin’. Why  d’ye be thinkin’ thar be rum? Gar, ye scallywag.

(The non-pirate fracas loves Lobster. Anywhere that serves good Lobster wins a fraccy vote.)

4.  What is the most daring thing you have ever eaten?

Ahoy, pirates have t’ eat rotten meat full o’ maggots and bread full o’ wee’ils. Mite a sea turtle or two… that be why we be drinkin’ and be plunderin’ an’ be pillagin’; we be hungry and sick o’ rotten food. Aye. Arrr, arrrr, arrr.

(The non-pirate fracas does not eat rotten meat full of maggots, or bread full of weevils. She doesn’t eat bizarre things like some people she writes about…)

5.  If you could invite any 3 people to join you for a dinner party (historical or present – basically anyone that ever existed!) who would you choose to join you?

Aye, me can’t waste me plunderin’ time thinkin’ about thin’s like this. Ye be pickin’ a mate from th’list and be brin’ them back te be drinkin’ th’rum and sailin’ th’seas again. Aye. Or me be makin’ ye walk th’plank.

(The non-pirate fracas doesn’t like answering this question. I’d hate to offend anyone, dead or alive, because I didn’t choose them.)
