I know. You’re wondering why I’d be writing about how to lose blog traffic.
I know, you’re thinking this is about my wanting to teach others to lose their own blog traffic in hopes that I’d gain what they lose, but no… this isn’t that.
It’s about workplace conditions, spiders…
…and one verrrry old British man who, despite everyone’s best efforts, doesn’t seem to listen to the wonderful, sage advice of all the women in his life. He’s ignored Lo, she is a terrible goddess, his fanzine editor, his secretary (oh, that would be me), his lovely friend and “boss” of sorts, his son’s canoodling partner, a very wise and learned bra; why, he even would ignore the advice of someone of the medical profession.
I give you this evidence.
Pictured here, is a portion of a screen cap, taken over at his blog not more than an hour ago. Though he currently is enjoying the benefit of his brilliant and engaging grandson’s wit (which is providing him with fodder for posts of sheer brilliance and endless entertainment value) he has chosen to add to the sidebar of his blog’s main page, the animation of one very creepy arachnid who, as you attempt to enjoy afore-mentioned posts, crawls across the screen.
You’re wondering how does that relate to workplace conditions and old Brits?
Well, I seem to have (somehow) become his secretary, and honestly… I don’t get paid enough to have to look at creepy-crawly things (like that spider) that often. It’s bad enough I’m always picking up all those papers he keeps accidentally dropping on the floor all the time, I shouldn’t have to be jumping on top of tables every time I see a creepy-crawly thing. I can’t imagine why he’d want me jumping on top of tables all the time. Doesn’t he realize that lessens my productivity?
Geez.
So if you too, think that his blog is no place for a spider to be able to run freely around, scaring all the women and causing all this non-productive jumping up on tables, please head over there and let him know. Honestly. I am still shaking my head. I just can’t understand why he would want women on tables instead of working hard seated at their desks…
I do thank you.

Comment by sylvied July 29, 2008 @ 12:34 amwoody – How do you know that?
sylvied – More likely he’ll print out the post, and then drop it on the floor and ask me to pick it up.
Comment by fracas July 29, 2008 @ 12:38 amIf goddesses stopped wearing really short frocks, the table antics would have less point ……. as it is? ……… well.
Gertrude is keeping Harry Potter, the spider, company now so he’s less of a problem …..
….. and anyway, Peabrains never listen …. or so I’ve been told [trouble was, I wasn't listening]
*hugs* Madam Secretary – tee hee
Comment by Daddy Papersurfer July 29, 2008 @ 12:54 amNow he has a Gertrude to bang it’s head against the blog wall. There are insects, animals and now I am wondering what’s next. He is surely going to lose the female readership on his blog. :p
Comment by scratchbags July 29, 2008 @ 12:55 amDaddy P – I’ll just have to
use the company credit cardfind some way to purchase several pairs of hot pants to wear instead of the short skirts whilst yon spider is sharing the office.scratchbags – At some point, Lo, she is a terrible goddess will step in and tell him what to do. I think she likes to let him think (briefly at least) that he is the boss. Until then, try keeping your left eye closed when viewing his blog.
Comment by fracas July 29, 2008 @ 1:24 ammaybe gertrude will eat the spider….
Comment by nursemyra July 29, 2008 @ 2:13 amI have had to colour in that side of my computer screen so I can’t see the wretched thing….. gosh I hope Nursey you are right & Gerty gobbles him up ;-)
Comment by 70steen July 29, 2008 @ 11:57 amI have to admit, I thought ‘How creepy could an animation of a spider be?’, so feeling sure in my momentary non-arachnophobia, I went to his page and then suddenly that spider crawled across the sidebar.
I’m sorry: You’re right… That is creeeeepy!!!!!
