Toasting WordPress

Comment on this post…

I was at the WordPress site this morning, intending to send in a support email question and help JD get unspammed for good. As it turns out, support is on Pacific time and I on Central. With support opening at 8am, I was woefully early, so I decided to peek into the help forums for a bit.

I happened upon a post thanking WordPress and my natural instinct was to post a link to my Ode to WordPress. After all, that’s what I did when I wrote the Ode, not realizing that my excitement and desire to shout out how happy I was with their service just might look like thread hijacking.

So this time… I told myself to settle down, post a simple “me too” and come here to link and give them a trackback.

I can’t help but want to post it again. I honestly do love the service we get here at WordPress. I can live with having to be more creative in how I make money from it than just throwing up some Adsense links. I really can. I can live with not being able to add javascript widgets in my sidebar. That restriction keeps us all safer from those who would wreak havoc on our blogs.  I am, for the significant part, incredibly satisfied with my options and my blog host. Enough so, that I wrote this poem last year and this year, still find it applicable enough to share again.

So Thank you WordPress. Here’s to another great year!

Awesome ode! I, too, love WP, and am eternally grateful it exists. Without WP: no Fracas!

Awww, that’s the nicest thing anyone said to me today.

My mom’s going to be really glad she’s done raising us because if I added up sisters to the fraccy clan then, the way I do now… she’d be like that old woman who lived in a shoe…

(Well, with 8 of us, it almost was like that anyway, but honestly… I’ve added Jayleen, 70steen, JD, Olga, and let me think… I know there were more.

Wanted to see if this would go to spam.

I just came from the forum on akismet blocking WP users and putting them directly into the spam bin.

I was able to post yesterday. I found a few people posting on a very poorly researched article and I responded to them. . . at least three of them and I had links to sites that gave a different opinion. I guess that may have got me into the “spam” from wordpress.

It wasn’t even close to your typical spam. . . it was a nice long post with lots of information.

Anyway. . .hope this goes through. . .if not. . .arrggg

Some people set their “link tolerance” to fairly low. I have mine set to allow three links and then poof… you’re in the spam bin. Perhaps that’s what happened to your other post?

You’re going up fine this time, so that tells me askimet is not just arbitrarily treating you as spam.

I don’t get it.
I tested this url/blog with a post onto one of my other blogs that I’ve never posted on and it went into akismet spam and my filter is at 2 links and I had 0 in the post?

WordPress.com has no idea either. They sent me onto Akismet.

I figure I’ll try and stick with the blogs I know I’m good on till akismet maybe sees that I’m not spamming.

Thanks
