We Will Remember Them

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

(Excerpt from For The Fallen, Laurence Binyon (1869-1943). Read the rest of Binyon’s famous piece here.)

A Pittance of Time – The Real Story

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

I have just listened to that wonderful tribute to all The Men Boys and Girls that have served and those who still are, I went to my town centre (south London UK) to the remembrance day service. At the moment of 11am the traffic was stopped the wind died down and for the 2 minutes the sun came out…it brought tears to my eyes and thoughts for all the soldiers out there trying to make our world a safer place to belong to. Thank you fracas for that.(ps I am new and in the process of building my blog! I think yours is full of joy)

Umm.. what exactly is it that you don’t agree with? Normally when one finds a comment that doesn’t really jive with the post, it turns out to be an attempt to link to some commercial site. In other words… spam that got missed by the spam filter.

Yours doesn’t have a link to somewhere so I’m puzzled. I guess I should log in and check it out further.
