fracas

Two hours to go, did you write that post?

Those of you who are regular (or even infrequent) visitors here will know that there’s been a lot of fuelmyblog fuss around the fraccy blog this October. You likely know that there’s been a voting contest, and the daddypapersurfer and I engaged in quite a bit of zany, madcap competition to try and get your votes.

I would like to thank everyone (though this won’t be the only time I’ll do that) for those votes, but the purpose of this post is actually to benefit you… all of you on the list of links below.

You see, earlier, I’d written a post and let you know that I’d been voting for you. I wanted you to write your “I’m In” post so that you’d be able to claim your snorgtee. Some of you did and some of you didn’t. I told you I was going to vote for you whether or not you voted for me, and that I did. I did my very best, to vote for all of you on that list… and a few more too.

I did it for two reasons. I wanted to help as many of you as I could, get on the top 100 list.. stay there, and get a shirt. I also wanted to show my support for Kevin and Sylvie and all of the fuelmyblog team, icluding the good folks at snorgtees.com who will be supplying the shirts to the top 100. They’re all good people.

Fuelmyblog is a great community.

So this is my last effort to let all of you know that if your link is on the list below, you have two hours left to write that post. I sure hope you haven’t left it thinking you can do it tonight because where the fuelmyblog home is in the offline world, the clock is hours ahead of we who live in North America… like fracas. At 5:01 pm CST, the clock will read 12:01 am November 1st in fuelmyblog land and the contest will be over. If your post isn’t up, you will not be able to claim the snorgtee which this fraccy female has been voting for you for the last several weeks, in order for you to win.

So do it now (if you can). You should’ve done it when I posted the earlier post. Some of you did.

And remember… put your fuelmyblog widget on your blog’s main page. It is so much easier for people to vote for you and increase your exposure and your blog’s traffic, if you do that.

Plus it would make Kevin, Sylvie and poor JohnC (who might have wanted to review your blog for fuelmyblog’s blog but couldn’t because you didn’t have a widget up) happy… and fracas loves to help make other people happy. Especially Kevin, Sylvie and John.

And in the spirit of the day….

BOO!

The Fracas Monster Mash: Halloween Music, History and Treats

Fracas thinks Halloween is a great day that allows young and old alike, to play pretend, get out all their pent up “actor” desires, and eat a lot of junky treats that on any other day, would have moms everywhere behaving like the Wicked Witch of the West.

To help out those who like to partake of the pretend, I’ve compiled some helprul links and information for you.

And now… for those of you who are old enough to appreciate this, this is for you!

Enjoy!

Smashing Pumpkins

And by smashing, I mean fantastic, splendid, awesome, impressive, or to sum it up in one really perfect word…

Fractastic.

I found this pumpkin carving site, and was just stunned at the talent. You’ve got to see the full selection for yourself. It just wouldn’t be Halloween unless you did. I’ve linked several different pages at the site, because there are just so many wonderful things to see I wouldn’t want you to miss any of them. The patterns are difficulty level rated, and honestly… I’ve just not seen another site as great.  I blog in awe of the talent at this site.

After browsing the site, I’m thinking of all the possibilities. Watermelons can be carved, big ole cantaloupes and honeydews… eggplants. A person could really frac up their buffet table with some of these wonderful ideas.

Be sure to check this site out.

Dancing With The Stars - Week 6 Results

And it would be Sabrina.

In a twist that none of the judges could comprehend, both Jane and Marie found themselves safe, with Sabrina and Cameron in the bottom two. In the end, it was Sabrina to leave tonight.

While this all seems so shocking, fracas is not shocked. In Monday night’s review, I suggested this very possibility. Sabrina, though having thoroughly impressed the judges, simply does not have the fan base of Marie or Jane… at least not a fan base that is probably watching this show. Having slipped from her usual high-end vote, it was enough to see her going home instead of Cameron… a testament to how it has been the judges that have kept her in these past weeks.

Cameron, though not the strongest dancer, clearly suffered from what Carrie Anne Inaba referred to as Bruno and Len simply not “getting” their choreography. For his sake, I hope it’s a lesson Edyta has learned about taking risks with the choreography of a dancer who is skating on thin ice.

The moment fracas is most relieved about this evening though? That Marie didn’t faint. It appeared she honestly expected to be in that bottom two and when the call came and it was not her… it darn appeared that she would be on the floor again tonight.

The lesson, as pointed out by Bruno? It really is anyone’s game.

Dancing With the Stars - Week 6 Review

The Monday, October 29 show was thankfully, rather uneventful, in terms of competitors fainting.

The judges scores were handed out as follows:

Sabrina and Mark danced the Fox Trot. Score: 25
Jennie and Derek danced the Mambo. Score: 27
Jane and Tony danced the Jive. Score: 22
Cameron and Edyta danced the Samba. Score: 25
Melanie and Maksim danced the Rhumba. Score: 30
Marie and Jonathan danced the Paso Doble. Score: 23
Helio and Julianne danced the Cha Cha. Score: 28

Fracas Figures:

Sabrina and Mark danced an acceptable Fox trot, but there was nothing spectacular about it. She being off on a busy schedule this week might make one tempted to chalk it up to that, however, we learn later in the show that Mel and Maksim also had little practice time and well, their scores sum up why little practice time just isn’t an excuse for a poor performance at this stage.

Jennie and Derek continue to receive golden remarks as well as marks from the judges. I noticed a wee mix-up with some hand connections (or whatever they’re called in the dance lingo) but it appears the judges, none of them… saw a thing.

Jane and Tony danced a nice Jive, but frankly, it was boring. The judges were correct in that this was not a dance that allowed Jane to shine. She looked fabulous for certain, in fact, fabulous enough that certain members of the fraccy viewing audience (who weren’t old enough to know how old Jane really is) guessed her at being about 40 rather than her 50+ years. Looking fabulous though, isn’t enough. Jane is a beautiful, classy, and graceful dancer who, when watching a Viennese Waltz (for example) makes one thankful for being able to view such a treat. She isn’t though, cut out for some of the faster dances. Still… she has no reason for shame. Jane, despite a slow Jive, still has my admiration.

Cameron and Edyta danced a rather uniquely choreographed Samba and while two out of three ain’t bad if you’re meatloaf, this time, two out of three judges not “getting it” did indeed affect their scores. Taunting viewers with Cameron’s bare chest won’t bring additional support from fracas though. He’s not really my type. I’ll stick to watching the dance effort. This week, a 25 seems about right.

Mel and Maksim danced a lovely Rhumba and while I did think it warranted some nice marks, I’m not so sure a perfect 30 was warranted. Something about Melanie makes me feel that just as the judges correctly advised Jane that the fast dances don’t suit her, fracas feels that the slow dances don’t suit Mel.

Marie and Jonathan danced an okay Paso Doble, but it was nowhere near the quality of other Paso Dobles we’ve seen on other shows. A bit “safe” and a bit slow, it will likely be enough to please the throngs of Marie fans who, provided she simply didn’t faint this week, will likely cheer her on.

Helio and Julianne are a treat to watch. ‘Nuff said.

Tonight’s show brought a group performance. Half the contestants were transformed into “Greasers” and the other half into “Jocks” to perform Christian Perry’s choreography to Rockin’ Robin.  With but one rehearsal to get it right, there was much head-banging and jostling about to be seen. When the chips were down though, everyone performed suitably, with impressive lifts and jumps the order of the night. Truth be told though… fracas preferred the greasers, as did the other members of the fraccy viewing audience.

Who do I think will go home tomorrow?

My bet is on Jane to go next, but then again, nothing would surprise me. It might just be Sabrina. Though Marie does have the second lowest judges’ score, given the fact that she is wildly popular among home viewers, it isn’t likely they’ll abandon her just yet. Currently holding the fourth most popular cast rating (of all shows) over at BuddyTV, Marie’s popularity is something of a condundrum. She isn’t likely to win the competition if based solely on performance and skill, and whether or not home viewer voting can keep her in longer than she should be is the question. To do so, would render disappointment in those who would like to see the best competitor win. But… once she made it through the show without fainting, her fans will likely want her to remain, allowing her this week to “get back in the swing” and expect full scale Marie back next week. All we can do is wait and see how this all turns out.
