I don’t like to say, “I told you so.”
Well, actually, I do. So I’ll just say it up front.
I told you so.
Earlier, I’d posted several posts about Vanessa Hudgens and those nude photos of hers that have her ranking as the #2 item on the Lycos Top 50 web searches. The only term on their list more searched than her, is Poker, and that never seems to change on their list regardless of which dumbass celebrity is offering her “oops” crotch to the paparazzi that week.
There’s been a flurry of teeny-boppers rushing to defend poor Vanessa, not to mention the celebs themselves. Celebs like Vanessa Williams and others, jumping onto the poor Vanessa bandwagon that might as well, in my opinion, be as full of horse manure as sympathy.
I suggested way back when, that the photos were a ploy, and a marketing tool to create fame for herself. We’ve never found out who “leaked” the photos to the internet, just as we never heard a name or learned how Antonella Barba’s photos were “leaked” to the internet.
Imagine that.
In a time where we can track virtually anything and anybody; where what we think we do anonymously online is anything but; in a time when everything can come back to haunt us, no one seems to be able to figure out who the guilty culprit is who provided poor Antonella or poor Vanessa’s private photos to the internet.
It seems the folks over at Fox News agree with me. This is what Hollie McKay had to say on September 22, 2007.

Some say racy new pictures of “High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens may have assassinated her adolescent-market appeal … but big-wigs in the entertainment industry predict they will simply send her fame flying.
“Did anybody really know or care about Paris Hilton before her sex tape surfaced?” a high-profile television executive told FOXNews.com. “This scandal is making her a household name — it will definitely elevate her into real star-studded status.”And while the 18-year-old may not be interested in posing for Playboy or galloping in “Girls Gone Wild,” a leading Hollywood entertainment agent believes Vanessa will earn big bucks from purely professional fashion endorsements, appearances and shows.“Hudgens is on her way to creating a Hollywood brand,” added the agent. “When the media intensity blows over, her name will still ring a bell. If she plays her cards right, Vanessa will be the hottest thing in Hollywood without having to strip down again.”
And it seems Ness is certainly trying to undo the damage, attending church with her parents, cancelling her Jay Leno interview and posting a message of thanks to supportive fans on her Web site.“It’s been a whirlwind week for Vanessa,” a close pal told Pop Tarts. “She has never had to deal with the media in such a way, but she is a smart girl. She knows how to get back on track.”
So Vanessa will end up giving Paris a run for her money and her place on that internet bed of shame fame. While professing in a Teen Magazine interview, to be “a very private person” with “very good morals” who enjoyed serving as a role model, she’s once again, making the news with new photos of her exceptional “role model” behaviour. According to repeated reports, there are new pictures that have her bending over to show her bottom to the camera and flipping the bird to the camera.
Said Vanessa in that Teen Magazine interview, “I’ve been brought up with very good morals and I’m not going to go out and do something I don’t want other kids to do.”
It’s a good thing she clarified that for us. I’ve always wondered about whether or not a good role model for teens should be bending over to show their bottoms for the camers, and now I know. Good role models can do all that stuff for the camera, so long as it isn’t for a bad reason, but in order to turn one’s self into a marketable brand that will make oodles and oodles of dollars… just like Paris Hilton. I know I for one, will sleep better tonight knowing that since Vanessa told us she wouldn’t do anything she wouldn’t want other kids to do, all the other kids of the world should not listen to their parents when their parents tell them not to take nude photos of themselves and send them off to the internet.
Vanessa’s parents must be thrilled.
Their little girl is all growed up. She’s role modeling for all those younger girls (who will now take naked pictures of themselves too) and be able to make lots of money for themselves… and she’s going to make googles of money for herself while she’s at it.
After all, money is everything, and if you have to show a little tits and ass to get it, well, that’s just good morals marketing.
