Do you have an opinion on censorship?

I was reading at the WordPress blog, and thought I’d share with you, the link to their post about WordPress having been banned in Turkey, regarding a complicated situation involving a (from what I’ve read) rather slimy character named Adnan Oktar.

Presently, there are 146 responses.  Those of my felllow bloggers on WordPress, (who don’t read all the updates) who want to have their say, now’s your chance.

Those of you who blog at blogger, or using other platforms, might want to blog about this as well. Offer your opinion and link it back to the WordPress post.  It’s an important discussion.

I was a bad girl.

These are the things I did this weekend, that made me a bad girl (yeah, who am I kidding)… old fart.

  • Only posted items that took little time to post.
  • Did not keep up on comments.
  • Have not yet posted my Tips for Parents feature over at the Fuelmyblog blog.
  • Did not paint the foyer.
  • Did not get any of the prep work done for the exterior painting of the house (let me off the hook on this one, it was pouring rain.)
  • Didn’t knit anything (well, I don’t knit on other days either so, so what.)
  • Did not get any sorting-through-stuff-in-the-storage-room done.
  • Did not purchase the back-to-school supplies for the children.
  • Did not wear my Susie Homemaker hat and make perogies or cookies, or any of the stuff I’d planned to make.
  • Did not to any gardening (let me off the hook on this one too, it was pouring rain.)
  • Did not work on any of the projects I’ve committed myself to.
  • Did not pose nude for anything (wait.. that would belong on the good girl list, wouldn’t it?)

So what did I do this weekend, other than enjoy a nice family dinner with Mr. Fracas, the fraccy children who live here (and their beau – who doesn’t live her but does spend large quantities of time here) and the fraccy son who’s home from his summer stint out of province?

Slept too much.

3D model image of RetrovirusLike a little old lady, I’ve found myself falling asleep in the evening and just not wanting to get up until the next day. Ditto for the kids. I think that means we have an unwelcome guest in the fraccy household.

Damn.

I blame the son.

He moved out, therefore creating a spare room in the fraccy household. After more than twenty years of not having a spare room, this created (as DaddyP would say) either a temporal anomaly or a shift in the time space continuum, thereby allowing creatures (that normally understand their place in the world) to think my spare room with the fluffy pillows, little shampoos and soaps and a television with cable is meant for them.

%$#@!

I promise to try not to sleep away the next few days.

(Disclaimer: Please note that fracas does not actually have a retrovirus. It’s called creative license. Well, that and the fact that fracas thought the retrovirus was prettier than the other viruses.)

To find out how you too, can participate in The Monday Melee, please read the main Monday Melee page, grab The Monday Melee logo (and view the participant list too).

Previously, thanks to Vic, we Melee’d using lyrics, and according to Vic, she’s happy to keep the idea open for anyone to Melee in lyrics anytime they choose. It would be right if you do, to include a link back to Vic as well as here.

Last week I announced two new Melee ideas, and today is the date to launch the first of those. Today, Monday, August 20 is “Melee in Rhyme” day! All you have to do is make your Melee answers rhyme. Grab the button from right here or from the main Melee page, and display it on your post, your sidebar or anywhere you’d like to.

Monday, September 3 will be “Melee at the Movies” day:
All you have to do is use the name of a movie, or a line from a movie to answer your Melee questions, and you’ll be able to grab a button to display on your post, your sidebar or anywhere you’d like to.

As with previous invitations to mess around with the Melee, at the end of this post, I’m posting links to all the people listed on the main Melee list, in hopes that you’ll see a trackfracback and know what’s happening. With more than fifty names on the list, it’s a little hairy trying to do it one at a time.

Fracas’ The Monday Melee for August 20, 2007

1. The Misanthtropic: Name something (about humanity) you absolutely hate.

I hate it when people aren’t honest,
when they steal, or cheat someone they know…

2. The Meretricious: Expose something or someone that’s phony, fraudulent or bogus.

It’s so phony when they pretend they’re your family
when you can’t trust them far as they, you can throw.

3. The Malcontent: Name something you’re unhappy with.

I’m unhappy that anyone has this
to live with and explain to their young…

4. The Meritorious: Give someone credit for something and name it if you can.

Because in this world that some see as a tarpit
there are good folks I know we are among.

5. The Mirror: See something good about yourself and name it

I refuse to be conquered by the dishonest,
will not let them make me bitter or blue…

6. The Make-Believe: Name something you wish for.

I’ll continue to look for the good side,
and hope good gets the better of you!

Now it’s your turn.

You can take part in The Monday Melee, even make it a regular feature at your site by visiting The Monday Melee page and following the steps. Kick-start your brain on Mondays and meet other bloggers.
