Please use the feature in the sidebar on the right hand side of the fracas blog… click and GIVE HUGS TO AMBRIEL often.
Continue reading to find out why…
If you check my blogroll, you’ll find links to the blogs of two friends, Sky Windows, and j u g g l i n g C A T S.
They just happen to be married.
They also happen to have a daughter with cancer.
I was reading both their blogs the other day and came across both this post and this post, explaining how once again, their family is facing a battle most of us will never have to. Brahnamin wrote:
- “we took our daughter up to philly on friday for a second opinion from a specialist who is even more specialized than her surgeon here in dc.he wants an mri and cat scan to get a clearer picture
because the x-ray he took shows degeneration in a part of her pelvis where there is supposed to be no cancer at all.
a ridge of bone being eaten away from the inside out in a line leading to the iliac lumbar joint where the spine connects to the cradle of the pelvis.”
Ambriel has an underlying condition called Ollier’s disease, and has been diagnosed (and received surgery in the past) for a cancer called Chondrosarcoma. The whole history is explained by mom Sky Windows in this post at the blog she originally created for her daughter’s struggle. It makes everything else pale in comparison and I started to post more than once, but ended up feeling woefully inadequate in trying to come up with anything to say. I’ve decided instead, to change my little hug widget at the sidebar, and give all the hugs that had already been clicked for fracas… to their daughter Ambriel. I know it’s nothing really… but I hope that just as the volunteer firefighter Sky wrote about in this post (as well as in this letter to their paper) touched their hearts, and that again their hearts will be touched to visit here once every so often and see the hugs tallying up for their brave little sweetheart.
So please use the feature in the sidebar on the right hand side of the fracas blog… click and GIVE HUGS TO AMBRIEL often. You can click more than once at a sitting… but you do have to wait a few seconds between clicks or the little counter thing will reprimand you for going too fast.
Those of you so inclined, would be welcome to use the hug clicker as a little reminder for a quick prayer for this child… and for her mom and dad and siblings.
Thanks.

Comment by brahnamin July 9, 2007 @ 7:18 pmI hope every hug clicked somehow makes Ambriel (and the rest of the family) feel a little more love and a little less pain.

Comment by bluepaintred July 9, 2007 @ 9:21 pmThanks Bluepaintred, it’s the hardest thing there is. Harder than when you get sick yourself.
But aside from that…
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhck. I tried to go to your blog and it told me you’ve set it so only invited readers can read.
Did something awful happen to make you have to make that choice? I hope not. :-( That would be awful for you.
